OLYMPUS CLINCHES 2009-2010 EISA AWARDS FOR 2 CAMERA MODELS The Olympus Corporation is riding on high notes these days, what with two of its recently launched camera models clinching the 2009-2010 EISA (European Imaging & Sound Association) Awards, them being the Olympus PEN E-P1 Micro Four Thirds interchangeable lens system camera and the µ TOUGH-8000 compact digital camera. EISA is represented by 50 leading camera, imaging and audio magazines from 20 European countries. EISA selected the Olympus PEN E-P1 Micro Four Thirds interchangeable lens system camera as the best “European Camera for 2009-2010”, whilst the award for “European Adventure Compact Camera 2009-2010” was bestowed to the µ TOUGH-8000 compact digital camera. According to Mr Tan Tick Boon, Managing Director of Olympus Malaysia Sdn Bhd, “The EISA jury was clearly impressed with Olympus’ first Micro Four Thirds camera, the revolutionary Olympus PEN E-P1. Features like its appealing retro design and the utilization of the new mirrorless Micro Four Thirds system, which allows the Olympus PEN E-P1 to be very compact and lightweight, scored it much accolades and high recognition. “With a range of features to choose from, the Olympus PEN E-P1 is also a dream come true to realize one’s creative ambition. The popular Art Filters can even be applied to its HD movies, which are recorded in high quality linear PCM (pulse code modulation) sound. Since its debut launch in mid June 2009, we have collected many outstanding images gathered from PEN E-P1 product reviews done all over the world. All this thanks to the image sensor technology developed for our Four Thirds system and the all new TruePic V image processor, the technology that makes Olympus stand apart from the other camera brands. “Sales for the PEN E-P1 have been tremendously good. During our first stock delivery, all the units were sold within two weeks. We are optimistic that with this EISA award, more photography lovers will be convinced by Olympus’ latest innovation”, added Mr Tan. Together with its new compact Micro Four Thirds lenses, users also have the option of fitting the existing Four Thirds, OM and Leica M mount lenses to the body via an adaptor. Another achievement that has scored Olympus Corporation international acclaim is that the µ TOUGH-8000 bagged the “European Adventure Compact Camera 2009-2010” award. The jury concluded that the Olympus µ TOUGH-8000 is an ideal companion for photographers enjoying an active outdoor life. Designed to be used both underwater and for normal photography, the µ TOUGH-8000 is waterproof down to 10 metres/30 feet, equipped with an built-in pressure gauge that indicates its actual depth. Added Mr Tan, “The camera is shock-proof against drops onto hard surfaces from a height of up to 2 metres/6 feet, and those who enjoy winter sports will find they can use the camera in temperatures of minus 10C. “I would like to emphasise that this camera is not just for those adventurous ones who thrive on outdoor activities. The Olympus µ TOUGH-8000 is suited for everyone’s photographic pursuit and for any sort of function. What’s more, it is so easy to control by just tapping onto the camera’s sides, making it fun and easy to use,” concluded Mr Tan. - ends - |
